The ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR position is responsible to develop accurate project/job estimates covering all aspects of electrical construction. 

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Provide accurate cost estimates covering all aspects of electrical construction including:

 

*  Locate jobs to bid and/or solicit involvement on design/build work

*  Acquire plans, read specs, perform take off

*  Solicit bid prices from vendors and purchasing department for required materials.

*  Load job into estimating system

*  Determine proper markup with input from team

*  Evaluate schedule, workload, weather, manpower availability and their impact on potential projects being estimated

*  Organize and prepare scope of work description and price proposal or bid

*  Coordinate with other departments

*  Prepare project budgets once project is awarded

*  Issue purchase orders to selected vendors

*  Participate in project handoff meetings on awarded projects

*  Review estimates of other estimators prior to submission as a check for errors/omissions (24 hours in advance)

Qualifications

ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

*  Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

*  Experience: Ten years of progressive experience as an Electrical Estimator

*  Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of Arrow as well as client companies, architects, engineers, code enforcement and permitting officials

*  Thorough understanding of the National Electric Code

*  Extensive knowledge of the electrical industry, electrical materials, and construction methods, including requirements for different construction types

*  Proficient in Accubid Estimating System

*  Ability to maintain bid/estimate log systems

*  Strong computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, MS Project etc.)

*  Current Driver’s License

*  Strong personal code of ethics

*  Leadership skills and experience

*  Positive customer focused attitude

 

ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

*  Training in estimating and/or project management

*  Electrical design capability

*  AutoCAD experience

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

*  Ability to work independently and in a team environment

*  Ability to prioritize, plan, and meet deadlines

*  Ability to identify problems, determine causes, and provide corrective measures

*  Ability to adapt to various types of building designs and make decisions based on industry best practices

*  Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

*  Promotes company safety goals, attending all required safety training and complying with federal, state, local, project and company safety regulations
