The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and productively operating construction equipment such as track tpe excavators, skid steer loaders, dozers, backhoes, digger derricks, directional drills, and dump trucks to excavate, grade and prepare excavation areas.

Duties & Responsibilities

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR JOB DUTIES

*  Conduct daily safety and pre-operation inspections of equipment

*  Clean, lubricate and refill equipment as necessary

*  Safely operate equipment around other workers and equipment in tight or confined situations, on or around public access roadways, maintaining proper awareness of surroundings and work environment

*  Load and unload materials and tools and keeps site and vehicle storage areas clean and organized

*  Transport tools, equipment, materials and supplies to needed areas of the project

*  Dig trenches and holes for underground installations

*  Assist with the installation of EMT conduit, Rigid conduit, PVC conduit, corrugated pipe, and O-Cal, including cutting and threading using hand and power tools

*  Assist with pulling cables of various sizes 

*  Assist with the installation of poles, lights, traffic signals, duct banks, ground boxes, manholes, handholes and other electrical systems as needed

*  Utilize hand and power tools, including cutting devices, drills, saws, hydraulic and pneumatic

*  Assist with concrete work as needed, including preparation, shoveling, placing and finishing

*  Operate compaction devices such as tampers and rollers

*  Pick up tools and equipment and secure job site each day

*  Maintain hand and power tools in good operating condition

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

*  Ability to work independently and in a team environment

*  Ability to prioritize, plan and meet deadlines

*  Ability to interact with company team members and other contractor employees

*  Ability to take direction and complete tasks as instructed

*  Must be able to meet the consistently challenging physical requirements of the job

*  Must be able to positively identify colors of wire

*  Must be able to work minimim 8 hr day, 40. hours per week, with overtime, weekend, night work as required

*  Must be capable of operating 2-handed tools or equipment

*  Must be able to withstand repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers and complete overhead work for full day assignments

*  Must be capable of digging trenches, either by using hand tools or power equipment

*  Must be able to travel as needed for work assignments

*  Must possess good vision and hearing (normal or corrected)

*  Must be able to safely and successfully work in a variety of challenging weather and working conditions
