The Highway Electrical Laborer assists Roadway Electricians with the installation, repair and maintenance of roadway lighting and signal projects, keeping tools, equipment, materials and work area clean and organized.

  • Must be able to travel regularly (75% travel)
  • Must have Electrical or Construction Laborer experience
  • Must be able and willing to work in extreme conditions (heat, cold, wet, etc.)
  • Concrete workers and farm workers are encouraged to apply

Duties & Responsibilities

HIGWAY ELECTRTICAL LABORER JOB DUTIES

*  Load and unload materials and tools and keep job site and vehicle storage areas clean and organized

*  Pick up tools and equipment and secures job site each day

*  Transport tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to needed areas of the worksite, either by hand or mechanical means

*  Dig trenches and holes for underground installations

*  Assist with the installation of EMT conduit, Rigid conduit, PVC conduit, corrugated pipe, and O-Cal, including outting and threading using hand and power tools

*  Assist with pulling cables of various sizes

*  Assist with installation of poles, lights, traffic signals, duct banks, ground boxes,manholes, handholes,and other electrical systems as needed

*  Utilize hand and power tools, including cutting devices, drills, saws, hydraulic, and pnuematic, and maintain them in good condition

*  Operation of compaction devices such as tampers and rollers

*  Perform work in a safe manner in compliance with all federal, state, local, project and company safety requirements

*  Maintain hand and power tools in good operating condition

*  Maintain PPE and safety equipment in good condiition

*  Performs other job duties as assigned

Qualifications

HIGHWAY ELECTRICAL LABORER QUALIFICATIONS

*  High School Diploma or equivalent

*  1-2 years of Laborer experience

*  Must have valid driver's license

*  High standard of integrity and professionalism

*  Willing to travel primarily within Kentucky up to 75% of the time

OTHER REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, ABILITIES

*  Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

*  Ability to prioritize, plan, and meet deadlines

*  Ability to interact with company team members and other contractor employees

*  Ability to take direction and complate tasks as instructed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

*  Must be able to get in and out of cabs and beds of equipment vehicles

*  Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach

*  Must be able to climb, maintain body equilibrium, reach, grasp, bend and walk/stand/sit for extended periods of time

*  Must be able to lift and move heavy (50lbs+) objects

*  Must be able to work from all types of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts within the rated weight limits

*  Must be able to positively identify colors of wire

*  Must be able to work a minimum 8 hour day, 40 hours per week, with overtime, weekend and night work as required

*  Must be capable of operating 2-handed tools or equipment

*  Must be able to withstand repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers and completing overhead work for full day assignments

*  Must be capable of digging trenches, either by hand tools or power equipment

*  Must be able to travel as needed for work assignments (up to 75%) 

*  Must possess good vision and hearing (normal or corrected)

*  Must be able to safely and successfully work in variety of challenging weather and work conditions
