Job Skills / Requirements

The Voice and Data Technician is responsible for installation, maintenance and repairs of voice / data and low voltage electrical systems while adhering to assigned schedules, quality, safety and regulatory standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

VOICE AND DATA TECH ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Follow blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans to install, maintain and repair voice / data and low voltage electrical systems including Cat5E / Cat6, Fiber Optic, Coax, and other Low Voltage Cables
  • Inspect, test, analyze and troubleshoot technical problems or issues
  • Install cabling, card access, data-paging, data cabinets, cable racks, and camera systems
  • Perform tests and maintain splicing and testing equipment
  • Perform continuity and conformance testing
  • Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years cabling construction experience
  • Ability to read and understand construction blueprints, schematics, and specs to fully understand scope of work, scheduling, safety, and quality requirements.
  • BICSI and manufacturer certifications (Panduit, Siemens) preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
