Overview

 

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides electrical engineering expertise and leadership to the Occam team and client interaction in the development of client medical device projects.  The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible to onboard and liaise with clients, ushering client medical device concepts through the 4 key stages of development - Ideation, Engineering, Design and Manufacturing.  The Senior Electrical Engineer will develop and manage the client device project directing the activities of the design, engineering and manufacturing team while providing engineering expertise and performing engineering duties around the electrical circuits and electronic design for client projects.  The Senior Electrical Engineer works closely with the Sales team to assess and onboard client concepts to develop project plans to realize client designs. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

- Coordinate the activities of the design team

- Review development plans for compliance with engineering standards and good engineering practices

- Implement 60601 safety standards into product design schematic drawings

- prototype fabrication

- PCB layouts

- Embedded firmware

- Application software

- Soldering

- Debugging and troubleshooting

- Testing using oscilloscope and other electronic test equipment

- Technical specifications

- Writing and executing test protocols

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Educational Requirements - BSEE or four-year technical degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with a focus on electronics

Experience / Skills Requirements - 10-year minimum working experience or 7 year working experience and MSEE degree.

· Advanced math skills

· Special relationship abilities

· Ability to understand "abstract" principles behind math and physics

· Fluid working knowledge of electrical and electronics theory and application

· Experience with schematic and PCB design software, embedded firmware design and electronics simulation software.

· Proficiency with test and diagnostic tools such DMM, oscilloscopes, etc.

· Strong troubleshooting skills

· Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills

· Strong project management skills and experience

Desired Skills:

- Experience with schematic and PCB design software (Eagle preferably Eagle/)

- Digital circuit design

- Biological-level, analog signal detection

- Microprocessor/computer programming

- Embedded firmware design and programming in C#, C++

- Electronics simulation software

- WiFi, Bluetooth, and other wireless communications

- Regulatory requirements and processes

- Technical files and CE marking requirements
