Overview
The Drafter is a skilled professional who uses software to convert the designs of architects and engineers into detailed technical drawings. The primary function of a Drafter is to create technical shop drawings to guide Rosa Mosaic’s fabrication, manufacturing, and construction field craftworkers on the scope of work for which it is responsible under its contracts. The Drafter will collaborate with project architects, designers, millwork companies, general contractors/construction managers, and in-house project managers to produce final, approved shop drawings based on draft drawing submittal reviews and recommendations. This position reports to the Vice President of Rosa Mosaic.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design Analysis
Comprehend and analyze architectural and design concepts for projects.
Ensure all drawings are accurate and meet industry standards.
Calculate dimensions for areas, linear footage, and design work for accurate material requirements.
Assist in developing drawings ("markups") for field personnel to facilitate installation.
Update existing drawings as new information becomes available.
Collaboration
Work with architects, designers, millwork companies, contractors, and project managers to produce technical drawings.
Respond to requests for revisions and resubmit to project design teams for approval.
Project Administration
Verify construction documents against bid documents and budget; identify discrepancies for change orders.
Produce templates for installing radial designs.
Prepare and maintain a current list of construction document status by project stages.
Qualifications
Experience/Education
Associate degree in drafting is required.
Minimum of five or more years of experience in the building products industry is preferred.
Experience in the construction industry and architectural finishes is a plus.
Technical Skills
Extensive knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Ability to analyze design sketches and specifications to create technical drawings.
Strong mathematical and computer skills.
Competent in Microsoft Office suite and virtual estimating programs.
Interpersonal Skills
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
Superior interpersonal skills to communicate verbally and in writing with high-level technical expertise and clarity.
Capable of superior performance with little supervision.
Ability to meet deadlines regardless of time constraints.
