Today, Rosa Mosaic provides materials and skilled labor to fabricate and install terrazzo, natural stone, engineered quartz, tile, gauged porcelain panels, carpet, resilient and other products across a five-state region.

The Senior Accountant (SA) reports directly to the Controller and works closely with Accounting, Estimating, Project Management, and members of the senior management team. The SA will be primarily responsible for maintaining the general ledgers, preparing monthly financial statements, preparing for year-end closing, and assisting with general accounting duties, including management reporting, tax returns, budgeting, insurance programs, and reconciliation of bank accounts.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist Controller

  • Handle accounting functions for three operating companies and one real estate holding company.

Financial Statements

  • Prepare and review monthly and year-end financial statements for each business promptly.
  • Analyze monthly financial statements and prepare reports summarizing and interpreting the current and projected company financial position for management review.

Transaction Management

  • Identify, document, and reconcile interdepartmental and intercompany transactions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in general ledgers.
  • Regularly reconcile general ledger accounts to identify and correct discrepancies or errors.

Cost Allocations and Calculations

  • Prepare and document group insurance cost allocations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly work in process calculations.
  • Handle work in process journal entries.

Job Cost Analysis

  • Analyze job cost ledgers and report variances of actual job costs to budget to management regularly.

Cash and Bank Accounts

  • Review cash accounts daily and reconcile bank accounts monthly.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Monitor and coordinate updates and implementation of accounting and tax rules.
  • Coordinate and respond to audits by government agencies and insurance firms.
  • Collect appropriate data for the preparation of federal, state, and local agency reports and tax returns.

Internal Controls and Year-End Preparation

  • Review and manage the efficacy of internal controls.
  • Prepare year-end documents for the external accounting firm.
  • Respond to requests for information from the external accounting firm for annual financial review and tax return preparation.

Reporting and Project-Based Duties

  • Prepare management reports as directed.
  • Perform other project-based and analytical duties as directed.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a full-time accounting role.

Technical Skills

  • Competency in technology for accounting and business applications is required.

Industry Experience

  • Experience in the construction and/or manufacturing industry is a plus.
