Overview

The Louisville Thoroughbred Society is looking for a professional cook to join our kitchen team. As a Culinarian in our all from scratch kitchen, you are responsible for preparing high-quality cooked to order meals for lunch and/or dinner service as well as contributing to our unique variety of events. All food handling and preparation will need to meet our standard and attention to detail is a must. There is an opportunity to have a creative voice in this kitchen and we want each teammate to take part. We have seasonal menu changes, daily specials, and an evolving catering menu as opportunities to let some creativity shine. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients subject to par levels and cooking equipment
  • Handling the preparation of items in accordance with recipe standards and facilitate consistency, cleanliness, and organization every time.
  • Participate in catering events as needed ensuring high standards of food quality for every party with a sense of precision and urgency
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, mandoline, table top slicer, and other culinary tools
  • Assist in inventory management, including tracking food supplies and communicating when ordering product is necessary
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment
  • Professionalism, Confident Cooking, and Communication are all good practices in this Certified Executive Chef run Kitchen.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience cooking in a restrurant 
  • Ability to work in a flexible, fast paced environment
  • Maintaining proessionalism at all times
  • Confident cooking abilityes
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to multitask
